Recipe of Safforn Chicken

Safforn Chicken Recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 3 small cinnamon stick
  • 5 cloves
  • 4 green cardamoms                            
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 onions sliced
  • 4/1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 Lb chicken
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 Safforn,crushed and soaked in 4 tbsp of hot water
Method:
  • 1. Heat the oil in a pot and add the cinnamon,cloves and cardamoms. Fry until they crackle.
  • Add the chopped garlic and fry until brown
  •  2. Add the ginger  and garlic paste, the chicken pieces,salt and red chili powder. Stir and cook
  • until water evaporates and bring to a boil. Reduce heat,cover the pan and cook until chicken become tender.
  •  3. Remove the pot from the heat and cool. Take out chicken pieces and strain the gravy, through a fine strainer.
  • 4. Add the chicken pieces to the gravy. Simmer until the gravy is reduced to half and has a sauce-like consistency. Add the safforn. Stir and serve
